Mica Tedja (formerly credited as Monica Vanesa Tedja) is a transmasculine non-binary Indonesian filmmaker of Chinese descent, based between Berlin and Jakarta. Their work explores minority identities, family, faith and sexuality through intimate character work, often blurring the boundaries between memory, fantasy and reality.


Their short film Dear to Me (2021) won the Best Short Film award at the FIRST STEPS Awards and received a Special Mention at Locarno’s Open Doors Screenings. Their documentary My Therapist Said, I Am Full of Sadness (2024), an intimate reflection on family, queerness and belonging, premiered at DOK Leipzig and went on to screen at festivals internationally. In 2026, they directed Night Shift for Cuties, their first long-form original series for Netflix Indonesia.


Mica is currently developing Dear Family, their debut feature film, exploring queerness, unspoken desires and belonging within an Indonesian family.
